Training

Over the past several years, we have held many classes to educate the community and have been met with great success in this training effort. In our continuing effort to educate and train the community of ammonia-exposed workers, we offer 24-hour Hazmat Technician, 8-hour annual refreshers, and incident command courses. 

(These classes meet the OSHA 29 CFR 1910.120 (q) requirements.)

Registration must be complete at least 2 weeks prior to the class date!

*Classes are limited to 35 students*

*Location/Scheduling accommodations applicable for companies registering 15 or more students*

Meet Your Instructor!

Kem Russell, P.E.

Kem has a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Washington. Since the early 90’s, he has assisted many companies with PSM/RMP programs, and he has been gaining experience as a professional engineer for over 50 years! Kem is a dedicated member of IIAR and RETA and speaks at the annual conferences. In 2006, Kem was awarded the “Andy Ammonia” award for his presentation of the technical paper “Refrigeration for Controlled Atmosphere of Apples in the 21st Century.” Kem is a voting member on the IIAR Safety and Compliance Guideline Committees and has served on multiple boards for IIAR. Kem is the author of the quarterly IIAR Condenser magazine “Lessons Learned” articles. He also spends his free time helping as a member of the Yakima County Sheriff Office Search & Rescue group.
